LE16 represents Lemmer16.
It refers to the place Lemmer where the barges were originally built.
Number 16 in our case stands for the length of the ship and reminds me of a great time with my first boat the 16m2 “Soesah”.
The LE16 is a beautiful fast lemsteraak of 16.5m with the layout of the fisherman. Spacious, functional, no nonsense and that is precisely why it has a great cool yet chic look. And of course she is fully equipped below deck.
It is the ideal ship for sailors and nature lovers, family, friends and company teams.
Beautyof a lemsteraak, that is the LE16 without any doubt
She was launched in 2001, designed by Hoek Design and built at SRF in Harlingen. Hoek Design has drawn a fantastic wunderfull, sturdy hull with a beautiful fast sailing plan. All dimensions are exacly correct It is fast, robust and yet graceful. We have outlined the deck plan ourselves because we wanted a ship without frills that radiates the spirit and functionality of the fishermen of past times.
Master builder Arnold Amels has delivered a top performance at SRF.
You can relax safely in the spacious cockpit. Trimming the sheets is done from the cockpit by means of winches which, and that is quite special, are arranged horizontally for better ergonomics.
Anyway, as said, she is the ideal ship for sailing and nature lovers, family, friends and company teams.
Skipper Olaf & Marja have been sailing around for decades, especially on the IJsselmeer, in Friesland, Zeeland and on the Wad. He likes to talk about ‘boats’, boat trim, racing, why lemsteraken and all those other traditional Dutch ships are the way they are, nature and the environment, the eel and everything that is going on on and around the water.
He prefers to sail in the tradition of in the Old fashioned Way when ship engines did not yet exist The Strontrace & the Beurtveer are wonderful examples of this.
Homeprot of the LE16 is Jachthaven FortH te Muiden. Muiden itself is a beautiful town with its famous Muiderslot and cozy little center around the Grote Zeesluis with the well-known Cafe Ome Ko as the central meeting place.
There are a few tiny little islands in front of Muiden and of course Pampus (Amsterdam fort-island). It is a near Amsterdam the best port tot start your day trips. Along the North Holland coast and the Paard van Marken you can sail up north to Volendam, Hoorn, Marken or we will go straight to Durgerdam and Amsterdam!
