Nautical information, wind, waves, safety, etc. are exchanged, the sea chart is added and the course is determined together.
As soon as you set sail, the skipper gives you a quick course Sailing with the Lemsteraak LE16.
Once outside the piers of Muiden you will, after all, have to sail the ship itself, well with a little help from the skipper, over the beautiful Markermeer or IJsselmeer.

7 sheet winches have been placed in the cockpit for trimming the sails, bakstages and the leeboards.
There are two extra winches for the jib on the front deck.
Next to the mast is a traditional fall winch to hoist the mainsail and the jib. Operating this winch requires the necessary experience. To prevent damage, only the skipper may operate this winch. Turning the wheel on the other hand is typically the work of the starters.
The jib is first hoisted on hand and stiffly crossed with a winch on the mast foot.
All winches are operated by hand.
